Improved Police Community Engagement is Expected to Prevent and Reduce Crime by Informing Residents and Business Owners

LOS GATOS, California – March 3, 2014 – HipLink® Software, a leading provider of wireless messaging and notification solutions, today announced that Calgary Police has deployed HipLink Software as their HUB Messaging System solution for citizen notification. The system has been operational for four months and is gaining momentum in community use.
The Crime Prevention Unit provides the citizens of Calgary with the “HUB,” a crime alert service, through its Police and Community Awareness Program. The Police and Community Awareness Program is a proven, effective crime prevention tool employed by the Calgary Police Service to alert residents in Calgary and surrounding rural areas to such situations as, neighborhood crime alerts, emergency incidents, existing Amber Alerts, crime prevention information, public warnings, or other important information.
The HUB provides citizens with a self-subscribe service by registering online at: thehub.calgarypolice.ca. Citizens can select the modes of communication to receive alert messages, via voice, email or SMS text message. By signing up, citizens can be notified of crimes or emergencies occurring in their neighborhoods, at home, at work, or near their children’s schools.
