HipLink Teams With Spillman to Expand Public Safety Communications

LOS GATOS, California - November 30, 2009 - Semotus, a leader in innovative wireless notification solutions, announced today that HipLink, the company's flagship wireless messaging solution, will serve as the message delivery component of Spillman Paging module.

Spillman Paging is an important feature of Spillman's Computer-aided Dispatch solution for public safety and allows emergency response agencies to automatically send critical alert events. Spillman's previous messaging vendor Emergin, recently exited the public safety market, essentially leaving unsupported one of the dispatch solution's important features.

Spillman swiftly moved to evaluate other wireless messaging vendors, including HipLink, a high performance communications solution used by government agencies and Fortune 1000 companies around the world.

"We viewed the transition to HipLink as an opportunity to completely upgrade the messaging capabilities of Spillman Paging," said Spillman R&D Business Analyst Doug Leffler.

Using HipLInk, Spillman CAD users can send messages to virtually any wireless device including cell phones, pagers and PDAs as well as fax machines, and via voice using advanced text-to-speech technology. All activity is represented in real-time on the reports screen for easy view of status.

"With our previous vendor, Spillman Paging was limited to sending pages only as a text message to pagers and cell phones," recalled Leffler. "With HipLink, now our users can reliably send messages to email, smart phones, fax machines, printers, radio networks, and voice using a variety of enterprise protocols."

HipLink will also provide Spillman customers with new two-way messaging features, allowing message recipients to quickly respond back to calls and other critical alerts when they don't have their radios. On the technical administration side, integration was fast - HipLink easily plugged right into the Spillman software. Additionally, Spillman was able to eliminate the need for a middleware serial port connection and begin communicating directly using TCP/IP technology.

"We are very pleased with the opportunity to work with such a prestigious firm like Spillman Technologies and provide a solution for their public safety customers," stated Pamela LaPine. "The professional and systematic way the company did their due diligence and evaluation demonstrated a real dedication to their customers to find the right solution. We're committed to keeping HipLink the solution of choice for respected CAD providers like Spillman."
